My daughter's birthday is about a week before Christmas, so I was racking my brain to find an idea to fit in with the holiday but still be special for her first birthday. I came up with doing an angel theme. The invitations are actually DVD's that I send out in angel decorated envelopes. The DVD has a little movie of photos and video of my daughter throughout the year , set to "Pretty Little Angel Eyes"....there are frames in the video that have all the specifics, but I also include them on the DVD label so that they are easy to recall. I decorated with gold, silver, white and clear balloons...the clear ones had iridescent shredded paper in it to glow....twinkle lights everywhere and of course angels. (all easy to find in December!) Favors are little fabric bags made out of gossamer and including angel pencils and any angel toys I could dig up at the dollar store! We had headbands with halos on them for the little girls and boys. For crafts for the older kids they can decorate angel ornaments to take home and I had an angel themed Christmas tree in the kitchen. Food is angel food cake and for the adults an angel hair pasta salad. Another idea is to have a cut-out of an angel (made from particle board and painted) that the kids (and adults) could stick there head in and get their photo taken as a "little angel"! We made angel frames to put the photos in a favor. Our little angel certainly could enjoy herself!
