Christmas Gift Exchange (family or friends): Every year my husband's family usually draw's names for Christmas gifts exchange. Which is a real headache trying to figure out what to buy that family member for Christmas without coming out and asking. Well, last year (not sure who came up with the idea) They informed everyone just to go out buy something you would want for yourself...about $20.00 and it had to be a generic gift --> (Husband bought a Male gift & I bought a female gift). Then my husband's mother made up this story and put it on paper about how to get to Granddaddy's house for Christmas and with directions on how to get there, which is like a 30 min. or so drive. Come time to exchange gifts all the women stood in a circle with the gift they themselves purchased. And we had one of the Male family members (Granddaddy read the story). As the story is read with the directions are read off about turning right or left we past the gifts to the left or right of each person...(and of course the person in the story makes a couple of wrong turns and gets lost). But it was a BLAST...and the person reading the story sometimes read too fast and you get confused as to which is your left and right. But when the story ends what ever gift you have in hand you get to keep. And of course this year the all the kids want to exchange gifts and do it too... DIRECTIONS TO GRANDDADDY'S HOUSE: Anyone can make up a Christmas Poem "Directions to Granddaddy's OR Grandmother's house" Just start out like any other story but put directions in it (Right Turns and Left Turns). Be creative and make it a long drive and add alittle confusion by saying stuff like. "It was Christmas Eve and we were heading out to Granddaddy's house for Christmas it was RIGHT before 6:00pm when we pulled out of the drive. And add charaters (family members) in your story who are riding along to Granddaddy's house. You might also want to add (you) in the story with you giving directions to the driver. And somehow the person driving decides to take a shortcut but you'll get lost and have to turn around or find your way? Also, you know how you say Turn, RIGHT HERE, which doesn't necessary mean TURN RIGHT it means TURN NOW! and also that person your telling alway's repeats what you say, and then you say RIGHT (instead of YES) after they repeat after you......Make if FUN....And pick someone who you know in your family is a bad driver or always gets lost!!
