We have held an annual Easter Egg Hunt/Potluck for the passed 5 years. We start with the egg hunt - goodies inside plastic eggs.  To make sure everyone gets the same amount of goodies, I made a box with 6 holes in it,outlining each hole one of the colors of the plastic eggs.  The children find the eggs and put them through the appropriate hole in the box.  Once all eggs are found (I have learned to keep track of how many I hide so I am not still finding them in June!), the adults open and divide them up evenly.

We then do a craft of some kind. This has varied each year - blowing colored bubbles in a plastic contatiner and then placing an "Easter" shaped piece of paper over top for the bubbles to 'pop' on, or colored with paint blown around with a straw; grass in a pot - small terra cotta pots that the kids decorate faces on and then plant grass seed in; cardboard butterfly shapes decorated with colored egg shells etc. 

Then we  have  our potluck lunch - each family contributes a dish.

Next we play games.  One year I made two giant egg shapes from bristle board: one was the "whole" egg; the other I decorated and then cut it up into pieces so each child could help put the "cracked" egg back together (using the whole egg as our template). Another year I made smaller eggs of cardboard, colored them with felt pens, then cut each one in half.  Each child got half an egg and had to find their match.

Finally, we do some races. What would an Easter party be without a relay with hard boiled eggs on a spoon?  We also do an obstacle course; and throw small water balloons through the holes in a plywood board/target we made. I find as the children have gotten older, we have moved more into the games arena.  However, each year I come to this website to check for new ideas.
