EASTER EGG HUNT We have hosted a neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt for the past 5 years. Invitations are sent to the entire neighborhood. People are asked to contribute 5 filled plastic eggs (with candy, stickers, small toys) for each of their own children who will be participating. The eggs are to be delivered to me before the day of the Egg Hunt. (This way I know how many kids will be coming!) We have one hunt in a smaller area for the 0-4 year olds (so they don't get trampled by the big kids!), and another hunt in a larger area for the 5-10 year olds. I ask the 11+ year olds to help hide the eggs before the hunts! I also ask neighbors to contribute a plate of goodies or juice boxes, etc. to share after the Egg Hunt - we always have plenty of snacks to eat! The year before, I have purchased Easter trinkets and toys on clearance for prizes (Bunny bowling sets, stuffed animals, bead necklace kits, etc.) I then contribute a bunch of eggs with "Prize Winner" tickets inside. We encourage the kids who get lucky and find several "Prize Winner" eggs to share with their siblings or friends. I put out enough prizes so there is more than one per child. All the prizes are set up on a table in my garage - the kids then get to "shop" with their tickets. (Have them form a single file line and shop one at a time!) One neighbor has a bunny costume she wears on this day - I give her extra prize tickets to hand out to the kids who didn't find any, so EVERY child gets to pick out a prize. This event is a huge hit in the neighborhood!
