Since August is always a nice hot month in Spokane, we had a wonderful adult Chinese dinner New years Birthday party. Guests were asked to wear Chinese costums. The guests were served authentic: chinese red pork, sweet and sour shrimp, egg rolls, pot stickers, rice and stir fried vegetables. Bowls of fortune cookies were set on tables. The food was easy to prepar: the red pork was made the day before and the rest of it was cooked out side on the BBQ. I stamped chinese smybols on white and red napkins and plates: friendship, love, and hope. All guests were presented with a nice set of wooden chop sticks as a keepsake. Our fun games included teams of 2 building a portion of a dragon body out of cardboard, colorful crepe paper and colorful poster board. We had 20 teams. Each team attached their dragon body to another teams using large zip ties. The 30 foot body was attached to a dragon head pinta(that I made myself). We then paraded around our neighborhood with our wonderful Chinese dragon. After our parade the pinta was busted open. The cake was a chinese dragon with Sparklers instead of candles. As the sun went down, wonderful Chinese lanterns lite up the yard. The wonderful evening ended with Chinese fire works, purchased during the 4th of July and saved until the party.
