New Year's Eve Party for Children. My 2 sons ages 3 and 6 knew they weren't old enough to stay up for New Year's so we decided to have a simple but fun New Year's celebration at noon for them and 9 of their friends. The party began at 11 a.m which gave the kids a chance to play before the big event. At 11:50, everyone was given New Year's party hats, and horns and told to go into our playroom which was all decorated with streamers. At 11:59 we counted backwards from 10 to 1 and and at this point, we had 2 huge black garbage bags filled with balloons which 2 of the parents threw into the air over the kids' heads. They loved this. They popped the balloons, threw them in the air, blew their horns and danced around. Then it was time to eat. We went into our dining room which  had balloons hanging from the ceilings in black and silver and had matching tablecloths, more hats and horns. The kids had pizza, apple juice (or water) and popcorn. In the middle we had a huge crystal bowl filled with left over xmas chocolate which was wrapped in silver and red paper. Needless to say this was all eaten up quickly. The kids went back to play and a few minutes later they went back to the table for dessert. We had found star shaped cupcake tins and made brownies in them. Each child had their own star" brownie with a candle in it. And they were told to "wish upon a star" for a Happy new Year wish. This was a fun thing to do for the younger kids because they were so happy to go to a New Year's party and get the chance to celebrate too. It wasn't expensive to do and most importantly it was a great way to end the xmas vacation. We will definitely do this again next year."
