If you're planning a special Valentine's Day evening for you and your honey, all you need are some candles and a bouquet of red roses to set the mood. But if you're throwing a Valentine's Day bash for your friends and family, you'll want to spice things up in other ways. Those little candy hearts with sayings like Be Mine" make the perfect decorations for a Valentine's Day party. Fill candy bowls sprinkle the candy hearts down the center of your table and place one or two on each napkin.  Vintage-style Valentine's Day cards add a classic touch to your Valentine's Day party decor. Stand them up across a fireplace mantle or on your dining table or tape them to the bathroom mirror. And of course no campy Valentine's Day party is complete without a statuette or cardboard cutout of a frolicking arrow-toting Cupid. Red and pink are the traditional colors of Valentine's Day but that doesn't mean you have to dress in hearts and flowers from head to toe. If you're hosting a Valentine's Day party for friends and family take a tip from Halloween and make it a costume party. To tie the costume idea to this day ask your guests to come as famous couples throughout history. The couples can be real or fictional living or dead splitsville or still madly in love. Make your own valentines! Buy red and pink construction paper brightly colored markers glitter and confetti and share the love. Watching a romantic comedy is a fun Valentine's Day activity whether you're spending the holiday with a loved one or a whole slew of friends and family. There are lots of love-ly movies to choose from: You can select a golden oldie like Casablanca An Affair to Remember or Love Story or go with a more recent flick like The Princess Bride Singles or Room with a View. You can make the movie-watching experience more interactive by picking a musical you and your guests will want to sing along to like West Side Story or Moulin Rouge.  Just keep tissues on hand if you go with a tear-jerker. Love is on the menu for Valentine's Day and you can easily incorporate rumored aphrodisiacs like oysters and champagne into your Valentine's Day party food ideas. Start with oysters Rockefeller followed by an entree of chicken or fish in champagne sauce. Looking for Valentine's Day dessert ideas too? Think chocolate as in chocolate-covered strawberries chocolate truffles chocolate fondue and chocolate heart-shaped cookies. Then your guest will never forget your party!"
