My baby's birthday is in early Febuary and she loves valentine's day, so we had a VDAY BASH. INVITATIONS: We bought totally white, typical sized blank cards from a local craft store. I cut out a bunch of hearts from red, pink, and white paper. I set out some silver glitter, paintbrushes, and glue. I let the kids make the front of the card and then I wrote the following in the inside of the card. Roses are Red Molly is Having a Party and you're invited too!" Then below that text I included the who what where when why info. On the other side of the text I put a picture of Molly when she dressed up in a pink dress and put red lipstick and was throwing little scraps of colored paper in the air. We invited her entire kindergarten class to avoid hurt feelings or exclusion. We sent these invitations out 3 weeks before. Some people hadn't replied and there was some difficulty with mailing so we sent out a reminder card. We used small envelopes and made little cards by mounting four different colors of construction paper on top of each other. I typed up a little card and pasted it on the top. I wrote "Hey friend are you coming to Molly's Vday Bash on Friday? We sure hope that you are! If you can make it please call __________ and we'll see you then!" We sent these out a week before. DECORATIONS: The colors I used were pink white and red for the valentine's theme! In different rooms I put different decorations. One room I filled with pink and white balloons and at the end of the party everyone got to take one home! The kids also danced in here and played with the strings and balloons. In another room I taped up red streamers that all met in the center of the room and were taped to the edges of the room. It looked sort of like a circus tent! I had a lot of extra hearts from the card making so I taped them all over the walls. In most doorways I made a sort of curtain with the streamers that the kids loved bursting through. In another room I hung up red tiedye that my kids have made in the past. We suprisingly had a ton including a sheet t shirts tableclothes picnic blankets etc.. It looked awesome! GAMES AND ACTIVITIES: game #1: Heart Scavenger Hunt! All over our yard I hide over 75 little plastic hearts (they were supposed to be like poker chips Walmart). On my go they raced around the yard and picked up as many as possible. Then they were able to trade in they heart chips for Hershey's Kisses if they wanted. game #2-4: For about 30 minutes the kids were invited to run around the backyard and partcipate in three simple games. On a tree in our backyard we hung about pink hula hoops and rings on strings from a branch. We gave the kids a beanbag and if they tossed it in any ring they were given a heart shaped pink frosted cookie! Another game we set up was a sand pit! In a big tub we put a bag of sandbox sand. Throughout the tub we stuffed little chocolate coins. The kids were given three scoops to try to get as many coins as they could! They could keep whatever coins they found. The final game we set up was a Guess What This is! We took shoeboxes and cut little circles out of the bottom of the box which left the top of the box to the back. Then we set if up vertically and put a cloth over it so the kids couldn't see anything. This wasn't really Valentine's Day themed but the kids loved it! We put it some grass jello a crayon a tshirt etc... If the kids guessed what it was they got a candy cane! game #5: After they had spent about an hour outside we took things inside to play quieter games. We took all the kids in our open room and had them sit in a circle. Then we played "Warm and Fuzzy". How this works is that one child is chosen to go first our birthday girl! Then she goes in the middle of circle and crawls around as everyone sings "Molly is a warm and fuzzy fuzzy fuzzy Molly is a warm and fuzzy she's going to give a hug!" This hugging game went with our valentine's day theme! Then Molly chose a friend to hug and that person goes in the middle of the cirlce and has a turn to dance and give a hug... game #6: Next I read the kids two valentine's day books I found at Barne's and Nobles. The titles were "Roses are Pink Your Feet Really Stink" and "Guess How Much I Love You". They liked this and it calmed them down a bit. game #7: This was like our big finale! The kids were all told to bring bathing suits. We had them change and head to the backyard. Then they were each given a chance to walk up our fire escape and throw down pink water balloons at their friends below on the lawn. We warned them about this because that could be scary if not warned! At the bottom of the stairs they were a pair of slippers because we didn't want them to cut their feet and a parent always walked them up. About half the kids did this and the others were hysterically laughing and running around trying to avoid the balloons. After a bit we started up the sprinkler and filled up our kiddie pool with pink water made with dye and boiling water. The kids played outside for about 35 minutes. COSTUMES: We didn't have any cheesy costumes but we did wear Valentine's Day clothes. My husband wore his pink button up collar shirt I wore a pink tank top and white skirt with a heart pin. My daughter Molly wore a white dress with little hearts on it. We also give her a headband to wear with heart cutouts popping up with springs! CAKE: I made a cookie cake that I cut out into a heart then frosted it with pink frosting. We put a rim of red sprinkles it was delicious! This was kind of small so also made cupcakes with lots of sweet white frosting and we made an "M" with them and put a candle in each one. NOTE: We did not open presents with all the kids because this would take too long and I didn't want any hurt feelings over size and how much Molly liked the present. SNACKS: These were mostly for the adults because the kids were so busy. We bought heart cookie cutters and cut them out of peppers. We also had Blow Pop lollipops valentine's day M&M's we divided out red skittles and some other items. We didn't go too crazy with the snacks. FAVORS: Beforehand we made Snoopy valentines for everyone we also included a class picture of the kindergarteners in a heart frame Hershey's Kisses Heart Lollipops and some lip gloss. We also sent out thank you notes with a picture of the kids playing games and just wrote THANKS FOR COMING HOPE YOU HAD FUN Hugs and Kisses - MOlly. Personalizing is not important for 6 year olds.. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for reading! "
