My daughter's birthday is actually on Valentine's Day. Last year for her 7th birthday party she invited 10 girlfriends over for a "Valentine's Day brithday party". I made the invitations on the computer using a software disc...creata card....of course they had hearts on them and the type face was red/pink/purple colors. I decorated the windows in our apartment with hearts that I had cut out from red construction paper.  I had used a heart shaped cookie cutter to trace them.  I had red/pink and purple heart shaped helium filled balloons strewn around the living room just simply hanging down from the ceiling.  The table cloth, plates, cups, etc... were all heart shaped of course.  I used heart shaped tinseled wire to decorate the chairs...this provided alot of color around the table. And of course my favorite decoration, streamers ...and I dangled the same color scheme of curling ribbon from the streamers.  This gave the ceiling a festive look. When the girls started to arrive, I had crayons and markers out on the table with homemade valentine activity books....heart pictures, heart mazes, heart puzzles, word finds, etc..all on red, white, pink and purple colored paper stapled together into a booklet. This kept the girls occupied until everyone had arrived.  Next, we had fun putting heart shaped smiley tattoos on our cheeks and hands. These I purchased from Oriental Trading Co.  Their prices are great! Then we played a guessing game.  I filled a celophane see thru bag (valentine themed on it) with conversation hearts.  Each girl got a chance to guess how many were in it.  The girl closest to the actual number won the bag of conversation hearts! Then, we played "Pin the nose on the heart".  I used a big piece of red poster board to make a heart...added some eyes and mouth and the girls were blindfolded (like in pin the tail on the donkey) and had to see how close they could stick their paper hearts on the heart's nose.  I found large conversation hearts on line and cut those out to use for this game.  We played "Hot balloon"... just like hot potato, but we used a heart shaped balloon. The girls all sat in a circle and when the music was turned on they would take turns passing the balloon to their neighbors. When the music stopped, whomever was holding the balloon won a prize!  I made sure that every girl won one prize so no one felt left out. Lastly, we played "Valentine's Day Bingo." I got this idea right off the web. Actually, I paid about 5$ for the V-Day Bingo Boards.  I had to print them after downloading them.  They were awesome!  Very colorful.  Each square was actually a conversation heart. The girls used hershey's kisses as the bingo chips. This was a blast becasue they could eat them while they were playing. Each girl got a goody bag filled w/novelties from Oriental Trading Company. I took a group picture of the girls w/my daughter at the end...and when I sent thank you cards out I included a picture in each card. I think that was it.  Thank you!
